THE ‘BIG GAME’ CRAFTS FOR KIDS!
Will little ones be attending your big football game party? Let’s keep them busy and happy for hours! Here are some crafty ideas to keep them entertained…
Start by designating an adult to help with craft-making and create a “kids zone.” Include child friendly tables and chairs. Cover the table with newspaper or plastic table covers that you can recycle after use.
The crafty child-friendly tools of the trade:
- Kite String
- Kid safe scissors
- Craft glue
- Food Coloring
- Rubbing Alcohol
- Clear plastic cups
- Food coloring red, yellow, blue and green
- Pasta
- Glitter
- Rhinestones
- Glue gun or regular glue
- Paints
- Paint brushes
Pasta Necklaces – Paint elbow pasta in your favorite big game team colors. When the paint is dry, decorate the pasta pieces with rhinestones, glitter, or whatever colors you like! When the pasta dries, thread the pasta elbows onto a string to make fashionable necklaces and sundry bracelets!
Say It With Noodles - Kids can make posters, cards, or their favorite football team posters with different pasta shapes, paint, and glue!
Snappy Hair Clips - Paint bow-tie pasta. Glue rhinestones and painted pasta to a plain hair clip.
Pencil Cup & Pencil Toppers – Make a pencil cup from a quart-size milk carton. Glue on different shaped pasta and paint the entire cup.
Pencil Toppers - Paint different shapes of pasta and when paint is dry glue different shapes to pencil tops!
How about coloring Macaroni? Put macaroni into individual color cups. Pour a small amount of the rubbing alcohol into each cup, just enough in to cover the macaroni.
Add food coloring to each cup as directed below.
- Orange: 2 drops red, 3 drops yellow
- Turquoise: 1 drop green, 4 drops blue
- Lime Green: 3 drops yellow, 1 drop green
- Salmon: 3 drops red, 2 drops yellow
- Violet: 2 drops red, 2 drops blue
- Pistachio: 1 drop yellow, 4 drops green
To make light colors leave macaroni in mixture for 1-2 minutes, for darker colors leave submerged 5 minutes and voilà!
