As a matter of fact, the designers of the modern bikini, Louis Réard and Jacques Heim, named the bathing suit after the atoll in Micronesian Islands of the Pacific Ocean because they thought the style would cause the same reaction as the atomic bombs being tested at the Bikini Atoll during that time.

 

Over time, the swimming suit became an accepted piece of clothing. Actresses like Ursula Andress, who showed a bikini in a well-known scene of James Bond’s Doctor No movie, helped popularize the two-piece summer outfit.

 

Now the bikini is that indispensable cloth women try to fit into every summer.
